Castle of Guardamar del Segura (Alicante)

Access to the interior of the castle

The castle of Guardamar del Segura is on a rocky hill site near the town of the same name. Of arab origin, it is an elongated enclosure divided into two sections. The top is the castle itself, dated to the first half of the twelfth century. The bottom is larger and is surrounded by a gothic wall where the villa remained within these walls until the earthquake of 1829.
