Castle of Cullera (Valencia)

The castle is nestled in the mountains of the Foxes

The castle is a construction of the caliphate period 10th century built by the Cordoba State for the defence of the coastline and the mouth of the river Júcar. The year 1239 step into christian hands being King Jaime I the Conquistador who would reinforce the old arab fortress.

Cullera

The Well (old jewish quarter) district seen from the castle

Cullera is a municipality belonging to the Autonomous Community of Valencia, located in the comarca of the Ribera Baja. The Júcar river waters throughout the municipality through a system designed at muslim time and flows into the Mediterranean Sea, forming a river port.
